Appointment Information
What to expect
Brookside Therapy Practice will contact you by phone to discuss your initial enquiry. Usually, you will be provided with information about consent and confidentiality along with fee structure and what to expect prior to your first session. The initial session is aimed at developing an understanding of what brought you to therapy, your therapy goals and information on how we can work through your experiences.
All sessions are 50 minutes in length.
Fees
Note that the Australian Psychological Society recommends a fee of $260 for a 50-minute session. Brookside Therapy Practice is happy to discuss fees with you. There are currently no bulk bill appointments. Payment is expected at the time of appointment.
You may be eligible for a rebate under the Better Access scheme via a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Your GP is required to complete a referral and plan for you to obtain a Medicare rebate. You need to bring a copy of your referral to your appointment to access the rebate. For more information about Better Access please see the Australian Psychological Society website.
If you are eligible, the Medicare rebate is currently $129.55 per 50-minute session with a clinical psychologist and is available for up to 20 sessions per calendar year.

Please check with your private health fund for any rebate offered. Note that you can only claim a rebate using either Medicare or your private health fund for any one session. Brookside Therapy Practice does not process private health fund rebates.
Cancellation Fees
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please provide Brookside Therapy Practice with at least 48 hours notice. A cancellation fee is required if your session is cancelled within 24 hours (note: this does not attract a Medicare rebate).
